Nation By Nation (28Mar10)

16Mar-28Mar -- As always, jubilating the west-wide terminal prolapse knell by knell. It's amazing what the silent shattering of the dollar monopoly in May 2006 has done to the west cesspits. After all, the very issue of west prolapse is now echoed even in the west BBCNN media whore mindrape. (Mouseover flags for info)

A F G H A N I S T A N Afghanistan - After being ambushed, the west sordid cowards fired rockets indiscriminately murdering 2 children and wounding 4 others in Khost, 25Mar.
- On average west loses 5 tanks and 10 child murdering troops each day as it daily suffers 3-4 attacks.
- Approx west tally of Helmand#3 offensive for 16Mar-27Mar period: 165 dead, 17 tanks, 2 choppers, 1 hvee.
- West's own version of Helmand#3 losses: double death rate and triple wounded rate in last 2 months.
- Comrade Obama, west's official symbol and standard for peace (after all he's only attacked 5 nations in 1 yr), deploys 30K murderers more near Kandahar.
- West admits to actually "protecting the heroin industry" of Afghanistan. So now, the west beast comes clean and tells us what the war in Afghanistan is about. Amazingly, UN with its stacks of anti-drug wars resolutions had nothing to say on the 50B USD west drug harvest market.

» Click to see west beast's DU crime. Beware! It's harder to look at than the pack of BBCNN war whores.

A R G E N T I N A Argentina - Slaps ban on firms supporting brit occupation of Los Malvinas. Britz responded by dispatching a sub into the troubled waters.

A U S T R A L I A Australia - Eats its badly chosen words from early 2008 when it screeched "keep Aussie resources Aussie" and sells 3,6Mtonnes of liquid gas to China for next 20 yrs.

B R A Z I L Brazil - Lula tells west that since he got so much flak for meeting Ahmadinejad, he's now off to Iran to meet with Ahmadinejad again to support Iran's enriching ambitions. No, this isn't the world the west monster had envisioned in its NWO wetdreams.

C H I N A China - Gives 1B EUR loan to Belarus. Where's IMF? Oh, it's gnawing on the EUnuch flanks in the grotesque west incestual resuscitation comedy of the day.
- Takes over 50% of UK's Bridas oil with a 3B USD venture with Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia, in the continued Freeworld's flush of all things west.
- Won't re-evaluate yuan despite west's petulant floor fist pounding.
- Becomes Iran's #1 biz partner, trading some 20B USD. Yes, west sanction worked then.
- Dumps 6B USD worth of USA t-bills in Jan. China's USA holding is down to 889B USD.
- West big biz shudders as China sets on a "keep China Chinese" course. It's funny and most pleasurable to hear the west monkeys squeal foul when someone else applies west's practices against the west beast.

E U EU - So far we've laughed at the pirates wars among Swiss and the Germ/USA/UK bank tomb raiders; bankster squabbles over the trillions in fresh prints; west plebes against their war industry elite's bonuses and bailout heists; etc but now it's slightly more amusing. On the verge of the abyss, both EUnuchs and Baboons realise that the only way to postpone their own prolapse is by sinking the other's currency. And so at last, the west-wide rot pins the EUnuch against the the baboon.

E U - F R A N C E EU-Franks - Abandons carbon tax wetdream after an "unexpected" spate of protests and anti-status quo election results.
- 100s of thousands protest their pension evaporation. They didn't expect applause for their genocide acquiescence, did they?
- Mar23, teachers, taxi drivers, and civil serfs join the strikes.

E U - G E R M A N Y EU-Germs - Ratzinger, the nazi-boy germ pope of all west religions, is at last directly linked to the west christianic pedophile cabalism. He knew and allowed the systematic rape of some 200 deaf children to go on in USA by the west christianic sickness. Charges of systemic christian pedophile rape seem to disgorge from all corners of the west psychosis now.
- Pensions drop. Half of Germia is looking at 600 EUR/mo now. And this is just the beginning. Note that pension heist is occurring in synch across all west cesspits.
- Merkel caught in knowing and lying about the Germ massacre of 140 civilians on 4Sep2009. Indeed, among the west promotional criteria is, of course, the art of diabolical deceit, not just ordering massacres, tortures, genocides, organ thefts, and the usual christianic pedophile bent.

E U - G R E E C E EU-Greece - Labour minister tells countrymen "You must understand that Greece is no beggar seeking a handout."
- Second after, Greece begged and got 23B EUR from IMF. Yes, west is also a grotesque comedy. Let's see how much of the 23B EUR is going to relieve any of the Berlin fiscal diktat austerity measures. BTW, if there's Greeks reading this, tell your countrymen you're NOT broke. You've just been robbed by the same 911 "terrists" who are waging a vicious war against our planet.
- Clashes in Athens, Mar15.
- Rolling blackouts go into effect.

Athens, 23Mar.

E U - H U N G A R Y EU-Hungary - Capital suddenly buzzed by Israeli fighters.

E U - I R E L A N D EU-Ireland - Near 8% GDP shriveling/2009 is being "recovered" by 1,3% shriveling/2010Q1.
- Unemployment at 13%.

E U - L A T V I A EU-Latvia - Governance prolapses.
- Joins Spain, UK, and USA in boasting 20% unemployment.

E U - N E T H E R L A N D S EU-Netherlands - Shell zapping 2K.

E U - P O R T U G A L EU-Portugal - Privatisation of airlines, trains, post, energy, and paper industry underway as west Grand Asset Reform goes on. Note that west war junta has moved now to looting the fringes of the west cesspits.
- West slashes Portuguese credit sending Portuguese stocks and bonds into a St Vitus dance and aids EUnuchRO dive. Sideline: Rarely both stocks and bonds get hit together. Oh, the wonderment of prolapse.
- Debt at 90% of GDP.
- Inflation over 9%.
- Deficit at over 10% of GDP.
- All these #s are seen as a big problem by the ruling EUnuchs. But if that's the case then consider USA's #s. With 13% GDP deficit, 90% GDP debt, and incalculable superhyperinflation, USA couldn't even hope to apply for membership in Grand EUnuchia. This oughtta highlight the terminality of the west-wide prolapse and the comedy of trying to resuscitate the west fringes. Temporary repair of PIIGS, be it via austerity or more billions of debt, is like doing manicure on a heartattack victim.

E U - R O M A N I A EU-Romania - Loves USA so much it's replacing its MiG 21 fleet with preowned F16s at the expense of 1,3B USD.

E U - U K EU-UK - 25% of adults out of work. That's some recovery there, Brown.
- Public serfs taking near 5B GBP hit on their pensions to "pay for recovery". Why only public plebes? Private sector poodles have no pensions to raid.
- BratAir on strike.
- BratRail planning a strike.
- BoE tells britzies to enjoy the upcoming paycuts. Someone has to pay for the bailouts and bonuses and war defeats.
- Cuts 6000 trees just cuz the poodle peasants liked the woods. It's hard to comment on the growing west insanity.
- China picks up 51% of Loondon's prolapsed cab mfg on the west-wide garage sale.
- Looked up and saw what looked like Russian bombers buzzing the drizzly Gotha isles.

I R A N Iran - Biz with Turkey going from 10B to 30B USD. Looks like west sanctions work beautifully.
- GDP at over 2% growth. No wonder the west beast has been dying to maul this rising nation.
- West further waters down its sanction demands. China tells west to wait some more. Russia tells west its demand retreat is a good sign but suggests to rewrite it some more to delete the econ-punitive terms that are still left in the rabid west drivel.

I R A Q Iraq -

No, this isn't a colourised pic from hitler & cabal. This is USA's work TODAY. Needless to add, all USA murder troops have been acquitted for this Haditha 2005 massacre, in which 24 civilians were butchered by the west beast. This is what the USA troop parents have to say on the matter: "We know our son is innocent, we know he has done nothing wrong." Yes, west is THE disease on all levels, from top to bottom, and in all aspects.

J A P A N Japan - 80% of airports are broke.
- Responds to USA mauling by dumping 300M USA t-bills in Jan bringing its USA holding to 765B USD.
- Toyota stops mfg in USA at 2 plants in Texas and Kentucky.
- Toyota production is slated to grow 1% in 2010 despite the death of west markets by increasing Japan production by 40K units and upping sales to China and India. Meanwhile, USA unit production is shriveling by 60K units. No, no part of west including the baboon driver is necessary for harmonious int'l trade.
- USA says that it has to keep its mil base in Japan to "protect" Japan. This is exactly the same argument the silly sisters used in the Golden Goose fairytale when they got caught stealing the goose's feathers. Yes, west uses 1st grader rationale to justify the strategy of its int'l policy.

M O L D O V A Moldova - Left party boycotts west-proxy governance.

P A L E S T I N E Palestine - Israeli tanks assault Gaza shelling civilians, 25Mar.

R U S S I A Russia - Int'l reserves up by 7B USD at 450B USD, 19Mar.
- Proposes Caracas/Moscow bank to Venezuela.
- Coop with Guatemala.
- Coop with China to counter west. Sadly no details given.
- 11M pensioners see their pensions INCREASED. This just for fun as west pensioners lose their shirt.
- GDP headed to 6%, beating expectations.

S O U T H K O R E A South Korea - Navy boat explodes and sinks. Seoul tried blaming N Korea for a bit.

T U R K E Y Turkey - Visit of comrade Obama scrapped.
- 5,5B USD gas deal with Iran.

R T Erdogan: "West isn't in a position to tell other country 'oh you're not supposed to have nuke energy or weapons. Take Israel. Why aren't other countries warning Israel to dispose of her nuke arsenal but they're doing to Iran." For some odd reason, the most obvious things are rarely said.

U A E UAE - Gets a 9,5B USD loan to square off 23+B USD in debts. West calculations are funny, aren't they? West hasn't realised it no longer has cash printing machine, which make loans to plug up loans or selling bonds to pay for previous bond monthlies total and complete nonsense.

U K R A I N E Ukraine - Votes to boot NATO recruiters for good.

U N UN - Condemns Israel for land theft, prints resolutions, but won't send its troops.

U S A USA - Apparently the baboon has at last noticed its prolapse. 79% think it's terminal. Sideline: If this is somewhat true, then, as we calculated here using a simple exponential, by Oct, 100% of baboons will share that view. Whether that materialises into the Panarin Scenario is another matter.
- JPMoron floated by baboon's cash is getting 1,5B USD in tax refund to boot. This oughtta please baboons as they gape at their tax bills.
- Californlornia zapping 22K teachers. The word "teacher" is, of course, an oxymoron with regards to anything west.
- Californlornia reports record foreclosure rate in Feb but can't understand why "back to bank" sales shrivel. Foreclosure rate rises 20%/Feb. Note how they've managed to suppress this fun info during their budget masturbations a few weeks ago. They're a wily lot!
- Illnoise reports 22% rise in foreclosures.
- Fluorida reports 10% of mortgages in 60day+ delinquency. It was only 2% at the end of 2006 after the dollar monopoly nuking in May2006. That's 70% growth per annum!
- Atlantis, Georgia reports over 12K foreclosures in Feb, which is their local all time record.
- 15% or 19M now of houses across USA are empty.
- Michigone's largest hospital in Detrot sold off for 400M USD.
- Detrot closes 45 more schools. The baboon cleverly calls the prolapse "shrinking to survive".
- Social security fund is officially belly up now and running a deficit.
- The exponential prolapse of own land matters none to comrade Obama, as he prints 33B USD more for Pentagram's urgent murder needs in Afghanistan.
- Revises its unemployment admitting it at 12+% overall with spots reaching over 20%.
- 35 cities boast 15+% unemployment. Note here, that the lying west media war whores maintained the ridiculous below-10% fairytale until just now. Regardless of west whore #s and claims always aimed to deceive, know west prolapse is eating the west baboons' rumps 24/7 in 3 ways: exponentially, unavoidably, and terminally.
- Unemployment so rampant that comrade Obama prints 9B USD to refill the empty benefit coffers for a few more weeks.
- Media whores learn up another phrase: "social unrest" and use it correctly in connection to west prolapse.
- Media whores further admit that growth of GDP "isn't enough". Of course not, for GDP adds in governance spending, which in west means printing of trillions of worthless papers called money.
- Construction shrivels 6% y2y.
- Home sales shrivel over 2%/Feb leveling at 300K units/yr.

Beautiful, nay perfect exponential. This is the profile of the baboon and its household debt. Note it's touching 14T USD in paper debt. Note the dip at the end. That's the recent comrade Obama siphoning of the credit market. A bit too late? A bit too little? One cannot but laugh when confronted with this flaming baboonary and the cretinous methods they try to employ to "recover" or slow down the west terminal prolapse.

- 37 banks buried in 2010 on 20Mar.
- Comrade Obama heaps 2T USD on USA collective debt. Nice recovery there. Basic debt at 12,6T so it's time to up the ceiling -- AGAIN! This seems to be west latest trending craze happening each few weeks now. Sideline: Imagine shoveling 4M USD out the window every minute 24/7 with no vacation and breaks for a year and you've got a feeling for the wonderment of the west prolapse. As far as the exponential prolapse, consider Busch II took 4 long years to burn 5T USD. Comrade Obama is 1,6X better than Busch II at hammering knells into the west casket. Perhaps he oughtta print himself a nice bonus.
- Scores the biggest disappointment in peddling bonds. This means that foreign investment in USA shriveled by 32B USD in Jan, which is an all time record for the pathetic bond sales or let's call it what it is: loan begging.
- Comrade Obama passes 12 new taxes on the baboon via his Grand Health Reform.
- Idaho and 14 states threaten to lock horns with the dear comrade over the fiscal extortion under the health reform pretext. This just for fun.
- Admits EUnuch nuke trench is there to target Russian nukes.
- Comrade Obama pretends to be miffed with Israel over the escalation of Palestinian land theft. But behind the scenes he hands Israel 200M USD worth of mil cargo planes -- that's on top of the customary 2B USD/yr -- and promises to supply Israel with F35 stealths to aid the Palestine genocide.
- Pays Russia to lift its satellite cuz USA's space programme is just as prolapsed as the rest of the baboonarium.
- Gets angry over Chinese dump of USA T-bills sputtering all sorts of vindictive venom like threats of "stiff sanctions" saying "if you refuse to play, we'll force you." But oddly, the baboon's forgotten about the 250B USD/yr in trade deficit with China. It's almost as though west is just issuing threats helter skelter with zero thinking.

9:01 PREVIOUS NBN THREAT -- "Which world war III scenario do you favour"

All west chief thorns like Venezuela, Iran, N Korea, or Syria are untouchable by west. They have arms. Never in its entire vicious history has the west pedophile child-murdering miscreant dared to attack anyone but defenceless children. So all these war drum beatings, whether they come from the west BBCNN whores or from among the baboon dissent pack are no more than west wetdreams of giant cataclysms. It's on par with west hoards constantly awaiting some alien arrival, always in hope that someone else will fix it for them.

All this is patent nonsense. It's possible some mishap could precipitate some aggression that spills into an armed nation but then west will eat missiles.

So I don't "favour" any of the war threats.

If west touches Iran, Iran will respond. So long as Iran has second strike, west will eat it. Whether it happens within a minute or a year is immaterial. Plus there's Hormuz in this case which will dry west in a few days and grind it to a permanent halt. If west chose the winter months for this assault, the west baboon herds will freeze to death without oil.

If west touches China, it's gonna... well, in 1951 when USA harassed China, China mobilised 200K troops and drove the west baboons down the Korean peninsula. USA hasn't recovered from this to date occupying only half of Korea. This is 1951. With weapons... the wildest nightmares would probably be materialised if west decided this approach.

If west touches Russia... it's the same thing. One sub carries some dozen missiles each splintering into some ten stealthy warheads with range of 8K km. One single sub silently sitting under some South Pole ice sheet is enough to explain matters to all west lands.

9:01 PT2

So if west steps over the line and touches an armed nation instead of raping the children of Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc... it's gonna be a matter of #s. And as such, the entire west child murdering cesspit accounts for no more than 10% of the planet.

West would need 10X advantage to level the odds of some regional survival.

Plus, look at Russia. It's 2X USA size and 1/3 population, so the density is 1/6th of USA. This means that USA would have to shoot 6 times better than Russia to hit all the strategic targets, as if it knew where they are.

All odds, should west truly provoke a giant mil conflict, are vastly in favour of west-wide extinction.

But that said, WWIII has been on for a while. May2006 dollar machine nuking is just that. Reversal of planetary control and west exponentially continued prolapse is exactly that.

No part of west-wide prolapse jubilated by NBNs is accidental or the result of some random subprime oversight or some derivative overstretch. It's the result of carefully waged and masterfully carried out econ assault on all things, baboons, and land west.

Many throw up their hands in disbelief that no one attacks west but none seem to remember that 15 short years ago, west had no rival on our planet, which is what emboldened the parasitic monster to launch the 911-predicated world crusade to reconquer all planet's resources and enslave the people of the Freeworld.

Today, the matters are quite different. West is out of cash drowning in its own deft manure. West industries have turned into dust. West once proud christianic monkey populace has taken to dumpster diving and carrying pathetic banners begging for a job. West war junta has turned to a bickering body of crazed fiends unable to make any headway on any front. Freeworld has been polarised striking all sorts of coops of unprecedented sizes. Brazil is friends with Iran now. SouthAm is enriching uranium and pumping own oil. China is not only sufficient in covering its energy thirst with friends like Russia, Iran, and Venezuela, but is dictating fiscal and int'l market terms today. Ukraine, Ossetia, Abkhazia have been liberated from the west talons and Japan has at last stood up against the west rape. West policies and policy makers are ridiculed and scorned today. And west own media whores are talking west prolapse today.

None of this is accidental. It's all very crafty counter-offensive to the west 2001 world terror tour. If you scratch beneath the surface of all west defeats, you'll invariably find Russia's masterful chess game at work, which is nothing short of amazing. Even more amazing than Russian counter-offensive in 1941-5 against the vicious west NWO #1 bid, incidentally led, by and large, by the same west families as today.

So I still favour the current Russian diplo counter-offensive, which has driven the entire west cesspit on the very brink of its prolapse without provoking the beast into some suicidal madness. Looks like the west claws have hovered around the missile buttons a few times like in 2008 during the Olympic assault of Busch II on Russia via Georgia but on the whole we're still here and west monkeys are sliding down the bog where the pedophile miscreants of the christianic serial genocide disease belongs.

8:01 -- "World War III Has Already Begun"

> “In a few years, the third stage will commence, the stage of “limited wars,” that will later turn into a full scale world war with all types of weapons.

Possibly but a few years is a luxury west doesn't have.

> t, the West will try to take away Russia’s nuclear shield.

West has ALWAYS tried taking Russia's power away. Napoleon, west attack in 1917, Hitler, Afghanistan attack, 1980s, 1990s carlyle/soros buyout, Chechnia terror attacks, Ukraine theft, 2008 georgia attack, etc. West sentenced all Moscow residents to death by drowning and had west governance ready to fly to Russia and assume control over her.

Whoever stopped Busch II from pushing the missile button in 2008 may understand the issue with this ongoing west fantasy.

> He believes that aggressors will not be stopped with a possibility of death of hundreds of millions of people.

It's anyone's guess, first of all. But yes, if west touches an armed nation, its monkey populace will eat missile this time around.

And that's precisely why west aggression against Iran has been limited to a decade worth of pathetic castrated barks.

----------------------------------------

8:01 -- "WWIII as if we were talking about the latest fashion. "

Busch II was the first to threaten WWIII, btw during his last year in office. He did it several times. The west war-obsessed hoards of cretinous neanderthals somehow are beginning to feel that if they can't make it, no one should be allowed to. It's the classic poor loser syndrome attacking the brainstems of the west baboons.

Hence the recent west monkey obsession with WWIII.

Too bad the west miscreant is such a braindead animal otherwise it may grasp that WWIII or not, it's days are numbered.

-----------------------------------------

Thanks for continued updates on Helmand, soon to expand into Kandahar, as it seems per comrade Obama's most recent occupation deployment plans.

22:32 -- Nicaragua

It's funny how everything, absolutely everything is perverted in the hands of the west creature from hell. NGO in west means and defines government subterfuge. Like Russia has, the Freeworld needs to boot all things west.

It's most spiritually uplifting to see China begin cleansing self of west big biz claws.

14:32 -- "what Russia hopes to gain by its on again, off again policies towards Iran: S 300, Bushehr plant, sanctions?"

The whiplash policies drive the west beast totally bonkers. Not only west isn't capable of guessing which of its tentacles is being sawed off at the moment as it focuses on these major headline but completely irrelevant issues, but they change nothing. Even if west got its way on Iran, it changes nothing.

Even, if west was magically able to just erase Iran with the click of the microsoft mouse, it changes nothing for west.

Sanctions? It's ridiculous to even debate. It's like that USA-Russia nuke treaty. Since when has USA adhered to a single treaty it's signed. USA doesn't even follow rules of the Olympic games, let alone int'l treaties.

Debate over Russia-USA nuke disarmament as USA is building a nuke trench and as west is butchering everyone unarmed in sight is ridiculous and no more than lip service played only to flummox the christianic grisly species of child-murdering scum.

In general, there's much crying each time Russia issues some west-acquiescence rhetoric but again -- at the expense of endless repetition -- judge Russia's masterful chess game by results, not west headlines made by evil BBCNN genocide-loving whores.

The results are seen in west-wide prolapse, not in some pointless debate with west, be it on sanctions, WTO, west bank reform, nuke treaty ratification, etc. All the west headline stuff is rubbish. The marvelous game is played twixt the lines, which NBN hopes to untangle from the layers of west deceit aimed at concealing the mechanics of the end of the child-murdering parasitic vampire.

A few weeks ago, west drew up evil sanctions on Iran. China and Russia and Brazil told it off. So west watered it down. China and Russia told west off. So west watered it down again. China told west off and Russia whiplashed west saying they'd sign it if only it wouldn't aim at econ policies.

Many readers here were crushed by the silly news a few days ago. Today, Russia's opposed to sanctions once again -- as if it mattered anyway. Sanctions on Iran is a west's issue, not Russian or Chinese. It's purely west rubbish the west morons keep annoying everyone with. Making west spin its wheels is perfect and wonderful sight to behold as west negotiates down its terms. It further provides the measure of west's desperation by the amount it's willing to please Russian and Chinese critics.

On the whole, however, it should be clear today that sanctions on Iran, anti-Russian nuke trench in Poland or Romania, or arming Taiwan changes nothing for west. None of these relatively unimportant points of contradiction have the power to avert, change, or even hope to postpone the wonderment of west exponential and terminal prolapse.

It should also be clear that today paper issues like UN resolutions, treaties, agreements, accords, sanctions, etc are all pointless and non-existent.

West is waging a war against our planet and has violated every int'l convention and charter. It's silly waste time on drivel today other than jubilating the ongoing whiplash of the west war loving creature.

Saddam's No 2 urges Arab support for Iraq militants
Mon, 29 Mar 2010
Saddam Hussein's former number two, the fugitive Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri
Iraqi former dictator Saddam Hussein's number two, fugitive Izzat Ibrahim al-Duri, has urged Arab states to talk to what he called the Iraqi "resistance" instead of the government.
"The Iraqi people request that your summit adopts a historic and courageous position by inviting resistance leaders to represent Iraq and its people in the summit and in the Arab League," Ibrahim said in the purported audiotape aired on Al-Jazeera television Sunday.
He asked Arab leaders meeting at their summit in Libya to "recognize resistance groups, armed and unarmed, break their diplomatic relations with the occupying authority in Iraq and annul all obligations resulting from those relations," AFP reported.
Ibrahim is the most wanted of the now-executed dictator's henchmen still at large.

Terrorism suspected in deadly Moscow metro blasts, death toll rises
MOSCOW, March 29 (RIA Novosti) - Terrorism is suspected as the cause of the two blasts that tore through the central Moscow metro system during Monday morning's rush hour killing at least 32 people, Russia's top investigator said.
The first blast occurred at around 8:00 a.m. (05:00 GMT) at the central Moscow Lubyanka station and killed 20 people and injured 11.
The second blast occurred some 45 minutes last at the nearby Park Kultury station and killed at least 12.
The injured are being evacuated by helicopter. Central Moscow is at a standstill.
The last terrorist attack in the Moscow metro system occurred in February 2004 when a blast killed 41.

US and its Wars

1) The Long War - Without public debate and without congressional hearings, a segment of the Pentagon and fellow travelers have embraced a doctrine known as the Long War, which projects an "arc of instability" caused by insurgent groups from Europe to South Asia that will last between 50 and 80 years. According to one of its architects, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan are just "small wars in the midst of a big one."

2) Wars of self-defence - These are all to be seen in the light of self-defensive action. No question of "war crimes" for the US should ever arise.

3) Presence in Afghanistan - a) Control over opium and heroin through the Afghan poppy fields b) Military bases set up in Afghanistan in hopes of controlling/attacking China and Russia in an effort to maintain US sole superpower status for as long as possible.

Thousands protest against Putin in Russian city
ARKHANGELSK, Russia – Thousands of angry people demonstrated in a northwestern Russian city on Sunday against the high cost of living and demanded that the government of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin quits.
About 4,000 protesters braved biting cold to hold an unauthorized rally at a huge Lenin monument in Arkhangelsk's main square, chanting: "Down with this useless state power" and "Down with United Russia."
"We do not believe the authorities" and "We demand a pay rise," read some of the posters. Red hammer-and-sickle Communist Party flags dominated the scene.
The large rally was similar to recent protests held in Vladivostok in Russia's far east and in Kaliningrad in the west.

Erdogan: Israeli stance on Al-Quds is ‘madness’
Press TV – March 28, 2010
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has blasted Israel’s insistence on its stance to consider the whole Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its united capital as ‘madness.’
“This is madness and it does not commit us in any way,” AFP quoted Erdogan as saying in a speech at the Arab summit on Saturday.
“Al-Quds is the apple of the eye of each and every Muslim … and we cannot at all accept any Israeli violation in the city or in Muslim sites,” the Turkish premier added.
The two-day summit hosted by Libya in its Mediterranean city of Sirte kicked off on Saturday to discuss a common strategy to stop the expansion of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian land…

The number of US troops killed in Afghanistan has roughly doubled in the first quarter of 2010 compared with the same period last year.
According to Pentagon figures, some 77 American service members have been killed so far in 2010, the Associated Press reported on Saturday.
Holy Molly! Wonder who invents these fancy casualties figures.
This is while, the figure stood at 41 in the same period a year ago.

Has Russia gone off its head? We humble bloggers know the under-ground bombing was the work of the CIA. And here's Sergei Lavrov claiming it might have been organised by Af-Pak elements. Does Russia really want to join the war in Afghanistan, the drone-killings in Pakistan. (Shudder, shudder). Russia's friend NATO is also pressurising Canada to change its mind and stay on after the dealine set for removal of Canadian troops from Afghanistan.
Also China claims its importing less and less oil from Iran, a subtle prompt to Israel that it can go ahead and bomb that poor country? This morning it seems to me that the Freeworld has gone bonkers. Is in suicidal mode. Well, man proposes and someone else disposes.

Russia: U.S. Aiding Afghan Drug Trade - 28.3.10
Russia has accused the United States of "conniving" with Afghan drug producers by not destroying opium crops as U.S. troops advance in Helmand Province, one of the major opium growing regions.
The allegation, which came in a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, was the second time this week that Moscow has criticized the West over the opium issue. NATO rejected the charge and said Russia could help by providing more troops to combat the insurgency.
U.S. Marines in Helmand Province have told villagers that they will not destroy this year's crops. In the Taliban stronghold of Marjah, which was captured by U.S. troops last month, the U.S. offered to pay poppy farmers to destroy their own crops and provide seed for them to plant other crops next year.
Afghanistan produces over 90 percent of the world's opium.

Moscow Metro hit by deadly suicide bombings
29.3.10
No group has yet claimed responsibility for being behind the attacks.
But Russian security services believe the bombers are linked to militant groups in the North Caucasus region.

One analysis which sounds not too unlikely:
With Afghanistan a war zone, the only land route open for Russia to re-supply Iran in the event of a US/Israeli invasion is through those mountain tunnels in the Caucasus mountains.
Clearly, the US and Israel have a vested interest in seeing a war develop in Georgia to block those tunnels off.
Equally clearly, Russia has a vested interest in seeing to it that those tunnels will remain open, in order to forestall that US/Israeli invasion of Iran.
Is Russia too busy playing chess games to see what's awaiting it? Valet status with the west.

America’s looming trade war with China
29.3.10
What’s really going on is that US corporations operating in China are getting squeezed on big deals, and they don’t like it. So they’re using their political muscle to beat up on China. The Wall Street Journal explains it like this:
“A growing number of U.S. companies feel unwelcome in China, according to a new survey by the American Chamber of Commerce in China...Negative sentiment among Amcham’s members, which traditionally have been a strong lobby in Washington arguing for more engagement with China, adds to wider risks in U.S.-China relations....

Oppressive America... Layla Anwar - 29.3.10

Truly, I have never felt as oppressed as I have since 2003...I have never felt as much angst, as much suffocation, as much tyranny, as much repression as I have felt since those subhumans landed in Iraq....
For me today, America and Americans are associated in my head with pure Oppression...I have learned through those years, to unmask them in no time...even the "most liberal " among them...because in the latter's case it is their indifference and their cover-up that is so oppressive.
I find their political correctness oppressive, tyrannical...I find their external veneer asphyxiating with its phoniness, I find their so-called outer friendliness and so-called openness so thick with ill intent, ignorance and profiteering coupled with a poisonous snide racism that they can't seem to shake off...
I see America as the child of the Brits....but more "modern" looking, without the overt Victorian hangups of the English...yet God knows how much the mixture of American puritanism and perversion - at the same time...yes they are puritans and perverts together - how that deeply sick combination is lethal, toxic, caustic to others....and how it seeps and colors their words and deeds...
I need to stop again - this is making me sick. And it a beautiful morning here, but I will not dwell or stress it too much, lest they covet and come to occupy that too....

Dollar Illusions (excerpts) - Doug Noland

The downfall of Greece - and, perhaps, European - debt profligacy has, in a way, restored the reign of King Dollar. There might be consternation as to the size of current and prospective US deficits (as well as governmental market and economic intervention), but for the most part the marketplace just loves US debt these days. In contrast to the hamstrung Greeks, the view holds that US policymakers certainly will not let anything stymie economic and financial recovery. If additional stimulus is needed, loads will be immediately forthcoming. Massive deficits are fine, as they ensure sustainable recovery. If zero interest rates are required for years, Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, his colleague Janet Yellen and others will faithfully deliver. The Federal Reserve may be winding down its various emergency programs and trillion dollar monetization, but the Fed surely wouldn't hesitate using these incredibly successful tools as needed. No Japan here. In short, dollar securities are underpinned by the markets' perception of a potent and comprehensive federal backstop.

As I noted above, markets have a dangerous proclivity for accommodating bubbles. I see ample evidence of such dynamics throughout currency, debt, and equities markets - at home and abroad. I would argue that the reinstatement of King Dollar is not, as some had expected, impinging global reflation. Indeed, rather than restraining reflationary forces, dollar strength may today be reinforcing them. I would argue that the dollar's newfound muscle has not yet impinged credit systems overseas, especially overheated credit in the "periphery". Meanwhile, it has helped underpin "core" US debt markets generally, which has played a prominent role in the ongoing reflation of the world's largest economy and stock market.

Last week, California sold US$3.4 billion of new debt, including $2.5 billion of 30-year Build America Bonds. Heightened demand, especially from international investors, compelled the state to significantly increase the size of this offering. I would argue that without Washington's massive fiscal and monetary stimulus there would be little demand today for long-term California debt obligations - especially from foreigners. While many have compared California's structural debt problems to those of Greece, the markets are doing anything but imposing discipline and restructuring upon our golden state. In many ways California is a microcosm for the structural debt and economic issues of the US as a whole: reflation is simply postponing the day of reckoning. An increasingly speculative marketplace is happy to focus on the here and now

Russia implements sanctions against North Korea - March 30, 2010
A Russia's president has signed an order formally implementing U.N. Security Council-approved sanctions against North Korea.
The sanctions were passed in June by the Security Council, which includes Russia, after the country conducted a nuclear test. The sanctions are aimed at pushing North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons program.
To conform with the sanctions, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday ordered that all sales or imports of North Korean weapons and materials connected to them are forbidden.
It also bans weapons exports to the reclusive Communist country and bars transport of North Korean weapons through Russian territory, including its waters and airspace.

Stocks Soar, but Many Analysts Ask Why
30.3.10
The unemployment rate remains locked in a range that recalls the economic doldrums of the early 1980s. Housing is stuck in a ditch, with foreclosures rising. And consumers are still reluctant to part with the little cash they do have.
Yet the stock markets are partying like it's 2003, when hiring was brisk, real estate was booming, wallets were fat -- and the major stock indexes started a four-year rally that would double their value and push them to new heights just before the financial crisis hit.

The Fed pumps out paper money, pours it into the indicator issues to drive them up, the news media gets a soaring DOW to wave at the dumb masses to reassure them all that if they are losing their homes and jobs it must be their own fault and to leave the government people alone. (WRH)

G8 Push for Iran Sanctions Remains Inconclusive
Obama Wants Sanctions in 'Weeks' - 30.3.10
The G8 summit in Canada today focused primarily on US and Western nations pushing for Iran, a push that ended with the usual American confidence that the whole world was suddenly on board and the usual indications that this was far from the case.
The Canadian government started the push by demanding that the United Nations issue more sanctions against Iran until the nation agrees to entirely abandon uranium enrichment. The call then devolved into the usual US and Western calls for sanctions, with President Obama demanding that such action happen in “weeks.”
The net result was what such talks usually see: eager support from Western nations who were already on board for the sanctions and indications that both China and Russia remain far from the Western position.

Why Obama Used the Cover of Night for His Flying Visit? - 31.3.10
By making a 6-hour unannounced trip to Afghanistan last night, Obama proved that his military strategy and surge of 30,000 troops, his morale-boosting propaganda, all have failed to make a dent. The Mujahideen have further driven the enemy into the corner, to the extent that now he is not able to visit Afghanistan in the light of the day. He comes during the night and hurries back in the darkness, ironically acting like a thief.
Similarly, the brief speech of Obama to American soldiers in a military base, being dotted with his low- pitched and jittery-fraught voice was demonstrating the scope of the American military's fear and mistrust in Afghanistan. There was no word in Obama's speech, indicating any military achievement or at least giving good news to troops to boost their morale. Obama admitted in clear terms that their enemy (Taliban) were a determined and resolute opponent. However, he claimed that they would not defeat the Americans.
Obama's admission that the Taliban are a determined force, in fact, exposes the invading Americans acknowledgement of the fact that the Taliban are waging an unflinching struggle with unwavering determination. During the past nine years, the invaders have not been able to force Taliban to retreat from any given small area a or a village of any mention despite the invading American resorting to committing brutalities and using all military power at their disposal.
If they had any spectacular achievement or any tangible results, particularly, in the recent operations of Marjah, he would have refereed to them in his speech, to put them on display in front of his audience. On the other hand, Obama's visit to Afghanistan in the darkness of evening and even not informing Hamid Karzai, the Head of the Kabul puppet administration until he was in a helicopter on his way to the Afghan presidential palace for a 25-minutes long meeting with the surrogate, shows how arrogantly the Americans behave with their henchmen. The surrogates may obediently betray their religion, honor and conscience but still they would not obtain pleasure of their masters-- who are not ready to consider them an entity of any stature to reckon with.

The Bombings in Moscow and Dagestan
What would explain the sudden surge in 'Chechen' terrorism in Russia? I would submit that all of the following:

•Payback for the US/NATO defeat in the 08.08.08 war in Georgia in which Russian forces easily crushed NATO-funded, NATO-trained and NATO-commanded Georgian forces even though the latter achieved strategic and tactical surprise and had the numerical superiority up until the last day of the war.
•The need to put Russian under pressure to yield to US demands over Iran, be it sanctions, the Russian completion of the Bushehr, the sale of S-300 air defense systems and the need to get a UN resolution against Iran.
•Payback for the US defeat in the Ukraine where the end of the color-coded revolution (orange, this time) is a crushing disaster for US geostrategic interests.
•The need to weaken Russian influence in the Caucasus (who would want to follow Saakashvili's example now?) and in Central Asia by showing that Russia is not nearly as strong as some might have perceived it to be.
•Payback for Russian support (weapons and credits) for Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.
. Anger at Russia's refusal to help out NATO and insistence that the latter do something about the poppy fields in Afghanistan.

Re: DU poisoning of the world

The myth of being safe from Gamma rays has been floated far and wide. They tell you that in order to get exposure to DU related radioactivity you have to come very close to the source. That is only partly true, those particles released on the battle fields are being carried away by the wind and travel around the globe.
Evidence? The Brits used to measure those particles and stopped, because they figured out each time the US used DU in Afghanistan or Iraq it could be measured in high concentration 3 to 4 weeks after it was used.

The Contrarian Trade of the Decade: The US Dollar - 31.3.10
Since so much debt is dollar-denominated, then there will be demand for dollars to pay down debt. That is the essence of deleveraging.
And since other assets will be falling as interest rates rise and risk aversion returns with a terrible vengeance, then "cash will be King." Dollars will rise in value, and the best and safest return on capital will be money-market funds or short-term notes.
Rather than doom the dollar, these trends suggest the dollar could rise in purchasing power and demand for years to come. I know this is contrarian, but ponder the distinction between "printing money" and selling bonds/attempting to expand credit in a credit-averse, collateral-impaired system.

Israeli planes and helicopters mount Gaza attacks - 2.4.10
GAZA - Israeli planes and helicopters mounted at least seven missile attacks on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Friday, destroying what a military spokesman described as Palestinian munitions sites.
Four air strikes blew up two caravans near the town of Khan Younis, witnesses and Hamas officials said. There were no casualties.
A fifth missile hit a cheese factory in Gaza City, setting it on fire, witnesses and Hamas officials said. Hospital officials said two children were slightly wounded by flying debris.
Helicopters struck twice in the central refugee camp of Nusseirat, destroying a metal foundry. There were no casualties.
An Israeli military spokesman confirmed the attacks, saying they had targeted two weapons-manufacturing plants and two arms caches.
The air strikes were Israel's response to a Palestinian short-range rocket that was fired across the border into the Jewish state on Thursday, the spokesman said. The attack, which went unclaimed by any Palestinian faction, caused no damage.
An Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip early last year was designed to counter such salvoes. Rocket attacks have resumed sporadically in recent weeks and Israel has responded with air strikes.

Putin Visits Venezuela for First Time to Sign Deals With Chavez (April 02, 2010)

April 2 — Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin arrived in Venezuela today for his first visit to the OPEC nation as he prepared to sign energy, defense, and financial agreements with President Hugo Chavez.
A group of Russian oil companies agreed to work as minority partners with Petroleos de Venezuela SA to develop the Junin 6 heavy oil block in the Orinoco Belt with expected investments of about $18 billion, Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez told reporters on March 31. The venture will begin with production of 50,000 barrels per day this year and eventually boost output to 450,000 barrels per day, he said.
Chavez, who has visited Russia eight times during his 11 years in power, is strengthening ties with governments critical of U.S. foreign policy as he seeks financing and offers stakes in untapped oil reserves. Chavez has spent more than $4 billion on Russian rifles, helicopters and fighter jets in what he says is an attempt to protect the country from a possible U.S. invasion.
“This visit is very important for our country and for Latin America,” Chavez said yesterday on state television. “We’re forging a new multipolar world and Russia plays a big part in that process.”
Putin will also meet with Bolivian President Evo Morales today in Caracas before he returns to Moscow following a wave of explosions in Russia that President Dmitry Medvedev said would be met with a “brutal” response.
Chavez said yesterday that the two countries are set to open a binational bank to finance development projects and that Russia may consult Venezuela on developing a peaceful nuclear energy program, Chavez said.

Whether government likes it or not interest rates are headed higher, probably by 1% or more by the end of the year as government in its quest for more money to cover its debts crowds most others out of the market. This can be accommodated by the Fed, but not without higher inflation or perhaps hyperinflation, which in turn will drive interest rates even higher. We are seeing the reigniting of speculative mania in other markets as well – in the stock market and particularly in the low quality sector of the bond market worldwide. The mis-pricing of investments and finance is resulting in terrible distortions, mostly the result of Fed and government policy.
This mania has been aided and abetted by US dollar strength, especially over the past two months. We saw JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Citigroup and others loading up on the long side of the dollar starting last October between USDX 74 and 78. They obviously knew the Greece episode was on the way. Irrespective, and in spite of no positive fundamentals, dollar strength was used to draw funds into dollar denominated assets. Supposedly the dollar has some sort of competitive advantage, which it doesn’t, and that a strong dollar will be re-flationary, which it has been. Gold and silver should have been flying to the upside, but our government detests free markets and it again temporarily suppressed prices. This is the result of the machinations of Larry Summers and Tim Geither. Dollar strength has the perceived benefit of the Fed’s ability to endlessly create money and credit.
It is this perception added to Greece, European and euro problems that have fueled speculation in world markets. Perceptions are one thing, and fundamentals are another more powerful force, which in time will reassert themselves. Problems will first be evident in the bond markets, which have already begun. As soon as the 10-year T-note solidly crosses 4% the market, the dollar and bonds will falter. The current strength is perceived to be the weakness of other currencies and their economies, prospective re-flationary policies and the concept of too big to fail. This is why there is the concept that the current “recovery” will persist. They also recognize that individual euro zone countries cannot inflate their way out of problems. One currency prohibits that from happening. This means Greece and others cannot monetize their debt and that means any kind of recovery is years away. All 19 near bankrupt countries are in the same boat except the US. Markets believe in the Bernanke put or backstop. They also believe the Fed will reinflate again. They would rather have inflation or hyperinflation, which they can in part control, rather than deflation, which once it begins cannot be contained.
Then enters the question will the Fed deliberately choose deflation in a year or two to bring about world government? Is this what Greece was all about? We do not know for sure. All we can do is guess. Do not forget Europe’s problems are not as bad as those of the US even though they are led to believe they are.

Mongolia: The Pentagon's Trojan Horse. US-NATO Partner Wedged Between China And Russia
2.4.10
Mongolia, however remote it is and previously inaccessible it may have been, is no exception to the wave of worldwide U.S. military expansion.
NATO now has a military partner squeezed between Russia and China. To cement that partnership, Mongolia has become the latest country to send troops to Afghanistan.
With its vast expanse (over 600,000 square miles) and its sparse population (less than 3 million people with almost 40 percent living in the capital), Mongolia is the optimal location for U.S. military surveillance (ground, air and satellite) to monitor China and Russia simultaneously. The nation’s new U.S.-educated head of state is not likely to deny Washington’s requests in that regard.

The entire US strategic position worldwide is starting to crumble, says Webster Tarpley on his latest RT appearance. The examples he gives to back up his view:
- China has in no way said yes to more sanctions on Iran. No support for them either from other UN Council members Brazil, Turkey, Lebanon. As for Russia, it has also hardened its position on the nature of the sanctions which eventually be imposed.
- The Chinese failed to show up at the US Treasury auction in the last week of March. Because of that lack of demand, prices deteriorated and the yield went up. US is now paying 39-40 basis points more for the money to needs to borrow.
- Obama's hurried trip to Afghanistan: Karzai is slipping out of US hands and into the Iran-China orbit.
- Italy's failed colour revolution against Berlusconi who just won his regional elections. US hates the man because he's a close friend of V. Putin.

Russia delivers S-300 missile system to China
2.4.10
Russia has completed the sale of a package of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems to China in a deal which is said to be worth over two billion dollars.
Igor Ashurbeili, the general director of the Almaz-Antei joint, which manufactures the S-300 system has confirmed the delivery of 15 batteries of the long range surface-to-air missile system to Beijing, reported RIA Novosti.
All the supplied S-300 systems will be used for the defense of the Chinese cities of Beijing and Shanghai, according to a Russian official.
Each battery contains eight missiles in itself, making it an effective tool for warding off airstrikes.
The S-300 was first deployed in the former USSR in 1979, but it is still considered a potent defense against air attacks. The latest version of the system, S-300PMU1 (SA-20 Gargoyle) can shoot down cruise missiles and aircraft at a range of up to 150 km (93 miles).

What about Iran? Did they get their consignment of S-300's or not?

Nukes? Now Iran is Threat to World Economy, Says Obama (1.4.10)

A bit of translation is in order here. What Obama is saying is that if Iran defends itself against an attack by the U.S. or Israel, this will destroy the world economy.
"Barack Obama on Tuesday warned that a conflict in the Middle East set off by Iran’s nuclear programme could destabilise the world economy as he and Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, stepped up their push for sanctions on Tehran."
You know those bombings in Russia and the Afghan war, the culprit in both cases? Got it in one: Iran, naturally.

China's Global Shopping Spree - Michael T. Klare (Tom Dispatch) - 2.4.10

Think of it as a tale of two countries. When it comes to procuring the resources that make industrial societies run, China is now the shopaholic of planet Earth, while the United States is staying at home. Hard-hit by the global recession, the United States has experienced a marked decline in the consumption of oil and other key industrial materials. Not so China. With the recession's crippling effects expected to linger in the U.S. for many years, analysts foresee a slow recovery when it comes to resource consumption. Not so China.
In fact, the Chinese are already experiencing a sharp increase in the use of oil and other commodities. More than that, anticipating the kind of voracious resource consumption that goes with anticipated future growth, and worried about the availability of adequate supplies, giant Chinese energy and manufacturing firms -- many of them state-owned -- have been on a veritable spending binge when it comes to locking down resource supplies for the twenty-first century. They have acquired oil fields, natural gas reserves, mines, pipelines, refineries, and other resource assets in a global buying spree of almost unprecedented proportions.

Japan Kagoshima governor rejects US Marines base - 3.4.10
The governor of Japan's Kagoshima Prefecture has expressed his strong opposition against the proposed relocation of US Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in Okinawa to Tokunoshima Island.
Yuichiro Ito told reporters on Friday that he will oppose the relocation along with the residents of the island and the Kagoshima Prefectural Assembly.
He added that the government has not contacted the prefecture about the relocation. He also stressed that Tokunoshima residents do not want to accept a US military base.
The reaction comes as thousands of residents on Tokunoshima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture held a protest rally on Sunday after the island was reported to be a candidate site for hosting the contentious Futenma base in Ginowan, Okinawa Prefecture.
"The government has never consulted with any of the three mayors about the issue, even though it advocates the decentralization of authority," said Tokunoshima Mayor Hideki Takaoka, as he criticized Tokyo's disrespect for municipal governments.
The protest was organized by the municipalities and an organizing committee consisting of over 60 groups from Kagoshima's Amami Islands.

The Anglo-Saxon Snakes are showing their true colors:

"In Southwest Asia, the British behave like a poisonous snake hiding under a big stone in the middle of a field. When the farmer comes to remove the stone, unaware of the snake underneath, it bites him.

[...]

How the British Snake Works

One example which poetically summarizes these points and describes how the British snake is at work, was presented by a British official this week. Nicolas Hopton, Deputy Director of British Foreign Office's International Security Directorate, gave a press conference in the capital of Brazil March 22, where he emphasized that fresh sanctions on Iran are necessary to prevent "more dangerous" scenarios such as an Israeli strike on Iran. Hopton said that Britain views sanctions as the only leverage that could force Iran to negotiate over its nuclear program. The government of Brazil, a current member of the UN Security Council, has not been willing to support such a policy.

"This is about trying to encourage Iran to engage in a real dialogue. Since 2006, we've been trying to have a real dialogue, and the Iranians have been playing games," Hopton said. It was actually Tony Blair and the British who were manipulating the different parties to prevent a serious dialogue, by coming up with new demands every time the 5+1 group (the Five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) came closer to an agreement with Iran, such as in late 2005, when Blair, as rotating European Union chairman, demanded that Iran abandon its program for enrichment of uranium; and the Iranians, in a typical British-manipulated knee-jerk reaction, temporarily stopped cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), creating an international crisis.

To scare the Brazilians and other undecided or skeptical parties, Hopton stressed: "Either you have a pre-emptive Israeli strike—and they're very serious when they talk about that possibility—or you have a situation where Iran should get a nuclear weapon."

So, like Othello's treacherous Venetian Iago, the British show concern for everyone's safety and well-being, and offer to help everyone!

To look more credible and neutral in the eyes of Iran and other Muslim nations, the British Foreign Office is involved in a phony diplomatic "crisis" with Israel on the background of an Israeli intelligence hit squad's use of British passports in the assassination in Dubai earlier this year of a Palestinian Hamas leader."

Opinions Former Slovakian prime minister predicts NATO’s early demise - 4.4.10
Former Slovakian prime minister (1991 to 1992) and chairman of the Slovak-Russian Friendship Society Jan Carnogursky has expressed his skepticism about NATO’s eastward expansion, saying it has diminished opportunities for pan-European cooperation, and predicts the alliance will quickly collapse.
“I believe that NATO’s eastward expansion ruined the possibility of pan-European cooperation. I think NATO will soon collapse, because there is no basis for its development,” he said during the RIA Novosti-organized video link-up between Moscow and Bratislava.
Charnogursky also said that NATO is not popular in Slovakia, and that the country’s entry into the alliance had been engineered by the local media. Moreover, the necessary referendum for Slovakia to join NATO was never held.
“We needed to collect signatures, which I was involved in. We managed to collect 200,000 signatures, but we needed 250,000 for a compulsory referendum, which, regrettably, did not happen,” he said.

Four decades on, Agent Orange continues to ravage the children of those exposed. 2.4.10
DANANG, Vietnam — At 46, each year of misery seems to have etched new wrinkles around Tran Thanh Dung’s angry gaze.
When he was child in the early 1970s, Tran says he witnessed U.S. soldiers shoot his parents — both of whom were communist Viet Cong soldiers during the Vietnam War. Bent on revenge, he joined the guerrilla group within hours.
To this day, Tran weeps over the memories of bloodshed and the hellish cries of his dying friends. But one bizarre memory will haunt him forever. “The American airplanes came right toward me and dropped a mist in the jungle, and the next day, the trees were dead,” he recalled. “We weren’t scared. We were confused.”
Thanks to that experience, his son has been unable to walk since birth.
Tran was sprayed with Agent Orange — an herbicide that the U.S. Army used to kill off foliate in Vietnam and Laos during the 1960s and early 1970s, so the Communist forces would have no place to hide.
The defoliant is known to cause a myriad of birth defects in the children of those exposed. Today, Tran’s 18-year-old son suffers from a spinal disorder called spina bifida, an ailment Tran’s doctor said was caused by his contact with dioxin four decades ago.
“It makes all of us sad, our family and the Vietnamese people,” Tran said, adding that he wants the U.S. government to reimburse the families of Vietnamese soldiers for the effects of the spraying. “The problems of war will never leave us.”
During the Vietnam War, the United States sprayed up to 18 million gallons of Agent Orange around Vietnam, according to a study by the Government Accountability Office, an investigative arm of the U.S. Congress.
The Vietnamese government, meanwhile, estimates that as many as 400,000 Vietnamese have died from illnesses related to exposure to dioxin, such as cancer. It also claims that up to 500,000 children have birth defects, such as spina bifida, because their parents were exposed.

"The Palestinians have proven to be an exceptional people with exceptional power of endurance, patience, and steadfastness. I urge the Palestinians not to let despair conquer them. The status-quo in the region will change. The options, clarity, the vision, and the level of consciousness and awareness, the reliable choice of the resistance and the weakness of the settlement option are all unfolding.
"I say that Israel doesn’t have a future in our region. Even those buildings they are erecting in Al-Quds to Judaize the city, there will come a day when its real owners will reside in them. I call for adopting the choice of the resistance again. If the Palestinian Intifada was meant to continue, it would have put the Israeli scheme and all of the Israeli entity on the verge of collapse; it was an abandoned Intifada. We should go back to the real choice of the resistance inside Palestine. Supporting this choice, by all resistance factions and resistant states is the only way to save Palestine and Al-Quds. Of course Hezbollah back them and we are their partners in the struggle, resistance, sacrifice, and martyrdom."

Union with Belarus: political surrealism?
(Excerpts)

When Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko issued a decree on February 12 affirming the Belarusian-Russian intergovernmental protocol whereby Minsk would import oil from its eastern neighbor and allow oil to be transported across Belarus for 2010, many analysts thought that the oil conflict between Belarus and Russia had run its course.
In fact, nothing could be further from the truth; Lukashenko was merely buying time. The fact of the matter was that the Belarusian president had been forced to come to terms because his country's refineries had only enough oil for a few days. Lukashenko clearly intended to revisit the issue, and now he has done so with a vengeance.
Alexander Lukashenko is intentionally fighting back against Russia with everything he's got. First, there was the scandalous agreement whereby Belarus would import around four million metric tons of oil a year from Venezuela. Of course, this doesn't measure up against the more than 20 million tons Belarus imports from Russia, and even if Belarus paid full price for Russian oil, the Venezuelan equivalent would still be more expensive. But the public relations impact was monumental. The louder the better.
Furthermore, in an interview with one Argentinean newspaper, Lukashenko revealed that Venezuela could perhaps be involved in the privatization of Belarusian oil refineries, which, in light of the fact that Russian officials have long tried to persuade the Belarusian president to sell these refineries to Russian companies, means the situation has become absurd.

Karzai Slams West, Threatens to Join Insurgency - Afghan President Tries to Play Anti-West Card in Kandahar Visit
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has often resorted to playing the “anti-West” card in speeches when his popularity seems to be flagging, as an effort to distance himself from the international occupation forces which keep him in power. But after what could charitably be called a “cool” reception in Kandahar, a city his family and tribal affiliates dominate, the attempts are starting to whif of desperation.
Greeted by tribal elders (again, largely allied with his family) chastizing him for failing to do anything about the almost ridiculous levels of corruption and bribery in Kandahar (whose province is dominated by President Karzai’s half-brother, Wali), Hamid delivered a speech to local parliamentarians chastising the US for “interference” in Afghanistan’s politics.
The speech appears to have centered chiefly on attacking the US and its NATO allies, and parliament itself, warning that if they didn’t assent to his takeover of the Electoral Complaints Commission it would give the impression that Afghanistan was Western dominated and grant legitimacy to the Taliban. The MPs present say that Karzai even threatened to join the insurgency at one point.
One Afghan official called Karzai’s comments “shocking,” and US officials, still irked by Karzai’s claims last week that the massive vote fraud in his favor was a Western conspiracy against him, are complaining that the Afghan president is becoming increasing erratic and difficult to work with.
But though there is speculation that this may mean Karzai is on the outs with the Obama Administration, one mustn’t forget that twice already in the 15 months since Obama took office there were reports that he was ready to oust Karzai. Yet when push came to shove in the August elections the Obama Administration shrugged off over a million fraudulent votes cast on Karzai’s behalf and even praised the election as a success, championing Karzai’s legitimacy at a time when many Western nations and perhaps more importantly, a large chunk of the Afghan public, were outraged at the disastrous vote.

Academics ready to crush old economic theories with a new reality - Anatole Kaletsky

With the first decent US employment figures since 2007 published on Friday, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. The greatest financial crisis in history has not turned into an equally catastrophic economic crisis.
Now that a repeat of the 1930s has been averted, it is a good time to take stock of the lessons from this near-death experience for the world economy. While everyone is aware of the mistakes made by bankers and financial regulators, the economic theories that encouraged and justified these blunders have not received the attention they deserved. This is about to change.
On Thursday, a galaxy of academic economists, including half a dozen Nobel laureates, current or former departments heads from leading universities and top policymakers from institutions such as the IMF, will gather at King’s College, Cambridge, alma mater of John Maynard Keynes, to launch the Institute for New Economic Thinking.
Funded with an initial grant of $50 million from George Soros, Inet has already had pledges of millions of dollars in additional matching funds from other donors to create research institutes in leading universities in Britain, America and around the world.
Their purpose will be to reopen many of the debates closed down by unrealistic theories based on assumptions of rational and efficient markets. These concepts became increasingly dominant from the 1980s and gradually acquired a virtual monopoly on senior university appointments and research funding. This intellectual monopoly has ended up not just crushing the competition but also destroying itself from within.

The world's worst econ writer in a gloating mood. And what about the writers here? In what mood are they in? Strong, silent types.

8 tankers supplying oil to NATO forces torched
(5.4.10)
Eight tankers carrying fuel for the NATO forces in Afghanistan were torched here early Monday morning by Taliban attackers armed with petrol bombs.
Dozens of Taliban fighters launched the attack at Zakha Khel in the tribal district of Khyber before dawn, local administration chief Shafeerullah Wazir told according to a private TV channel.
The tankers had recently returned from supplying Nato troops in Afghanistan, where around 126,000 foreign troops are trying to help the Western-backed government put down a nearly nine-year Taliban insurgency.
"They hurled petrol bombs, then lobbed rockets and destroyed eight oil tankers," Wazir said.
The tankers were on their return journey to Karachi after delivering the fuel, he said.
There were no casualties in the attack because there were no drivers or passengers in the tankers at the time, another official, Rehan Gul Khattak, said.
"There were eight oil tankers parked at the terminal and all were gutted," Khattak said. The attack was launched by Taliban militants, he added.

Could Karzai Become an Enemy of the West?
(6.4.10) WRH
Tensions between Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the Obama Administration seem to be growing by the minute, with a weekend speech in which Karzai threatened to join the Taliban fueling resentment on both sides.
Karzai’s faux-outrage at Western interference is nothing new, but the first indication that this rift could be moving beyond rhetoric came today, when Karzai canceled a planned visit to a NATO base in Kandahar province, a move US officials are calling a “victory for the Taliban.”
And the folks in the State Department, Pentagon, and White House never saw this coming?!?
Karzai could well shock his Western allies by demanding a "Status of Force Agreement" which would have US and NATO forces out of the country very quickly and far before those pipelines have been installed with which the US was hoping to control the flow of Eurasian oil!
